Relief from Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is actually a collection of diseases that cause chronic inflammationof the digestive tract. The most common IBDs are ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. They can be painful, debilitating and sometimes even life-threatening.

About ulcerative colitis

Ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease that causes long-term inflammation in the lower digestive tract. It usually affects only the inner lining of the colon (large intestine) and rectum. Other types of colitis include collagenous colitis and lymphocytic colitis, though these are often regarded separately from classic inflammatory bowel disease.

About Crohn’s disease

This inflammatory bowel disease can cause inflammation anywhere along the digestive tract lining and often spreads deep into affected tissues. It causes abdominal pain, cramping, severe diarrhea, weight loss, malnutrition and anemia symptoms. Crohn’s disease inflammation may involve different portions of the digestive tract for different people.
