Lifesaving Colorectal Cancer Screening

Colorectal cancer generally begins as small noncancerous growths called polyps. With regular screenings, Dr. Donald Girard, our dual board-certified gastroenterologist can find and remove these polyps before they become cancerous.

Unfortunately, the disease may be advanced before symptoms such as rectal bleeding, pressure or a change in bowel habits occur. If diagnosed early, before the colon cancer has spread to other parts of the body, it is much easier to treat and the prognosis is much better. Dr. Girard has performed more than 20,000 colonoscopies and saved many people from colon cancer.

Comprehensive colonoscopy and endoscopy

  • Colonoscopy with or without biopsy, polypectomy, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), submucosal injection, colonic dilatation and foreign body removal.
  • Endoscopy procedure with or without biopsy, polypectomy, PEG placement or replacement, variceal banding, small bowel biopsy, dilatation and foreign body removal.

Regular screenings can save your life

The American Cancer Society recommends that adults have their first colon cancer screening by age 50, then at regular intervals (usually several years apart) thereafter depending on the findings of the first screening. You may also need to begin screenings earlier if you have a family history of, or you suffer from, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Colonoscopy is the only way Dr. Girard can examine the entire colon. He can schedule these lifesaving exams quickly and perform them in the comfort of a state-of-the-art endoscopy center. He can rule out cancer or help you get lifesaving treatments immediately, if necessary.

Dr. Girard will be happy to give you the benefits of his fellowship-level medical education and training – and more than three decades of experience.
