Leading-Edge Procedures For Many Conditions

Colonoscopy (lower endoscopy)

One of the most common lower endoscopic procedures is colonoscopy. Designed to screen for colorectal cancers, the colonoscope can also remove polyps or precancerous tumors. Dr. Girard has performed more than 20,000 colonoscopies and saved many people from colon cancer. He specializes in complete digestive health with special emphasis on colon cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Upper endoscopy (EGD)

EGD stands for esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Dr. Girard uses this upper endoscopy procedure to examine the esophagus, stomach and small intestine. He looks for various kinds of GI disorders, including polyps, ulcers, strictures and intestinal bleeding. It is both diagnostic and therapeutic, allowing Dr. Girard to utilize his 30 years of upper and lower endoscopic experience to diagnose a problem and treat it on the spot.

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA)

This minimally invasive procedure uses the HALO™ system to deliver high-frequency electrical energy to heat and destroy pre-cancerous and other diseased tissues. Dr. Girard uses RFA to treat Barrett’s esophagus and acid reflux symptoms. Barrett’s esophagus occurs when the lower esophagus becomes damaged by repeated exposure to stomach acid. Dr. Girard uses RFA to remove damaged tissue.

Dr. Girard has performed over 20,000 successful colonoscopies and countless other endoscopic procedures. He wants to give you the benefits of his fellowship training – and nearly three decades of experience.
